Star-studded event marks start of men’s tennis event

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships players party boasted the usual star-studded guest-list with the top-ranked players in the world being welcomed to Dubai in style.

The glittering event, which attracted the top players taking part in the tournament, was held at the Aviation Club. There was plenty of entertainment on offer for the players with a magician, a belly dancer and the locally-based band Pure Craic all adding to the festive atmosphere.

“It’s such a great pleasure to welcome the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic back to Dubai along with all the other fantastic players we have competing here this week. It’s also good to be able to give them all just a little taste of Dubai and all the fantastic Arabian hospitality it has to offer,” said Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of tournament owners and organisers Dubai Duty Free.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Play began on February 14th with the WTA Tour event, which was won by Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, and continues with the ATP tournament this week, that includes Australian Open and reigning Dubai champion Novak Djokovic and four-time Dubai winner Roger Federer.

Tickets to most of the matches are still available from both the Stadium’s Box Office and online at www.timeouttickets.com.
